Materials Needed

  • Halo LED ring kit
  • Oven
  • Gloves
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • T15 Torx screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Splice connectors
  • Silicone adhesive

Step 1 – Remove headlights

Open the hood and start removing the grille by prying off the plastic tabs along the upper edge of the grille. Pull out the grille from the corners. Unplug the turn signal lights and set the grille aside. Remove the four Torx screws around each headlight. Pull the headlight out and unplug the bulb from the headlight.

Step 2 – Remove headlight lens

Insert the headlights into an oven preheated to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Let them sit in the oven for ten minutes to let the sealant warm. As soon as you remove the headlights from the oven, start prying off the headlight lens with a flat tool. Sometimes the seal will be difficult to pry off. If the seal cools, just put it back in the oven for a few minutes to warm up again.

Caution

Don't leave the headlights in the oven for too long or they might start warping.

Step 3 – Install Halo LEDs

The Halo LEDs should come packaged with adhesive on the back of the lights and wires. There is a small opening with a foam seal on the headlights. Puncture this and route the Halo LED wires through the opening. Then install the Halo LEDs to your headlights using the adhesive on the back to stick it to the inner edge of the headlight.

Step 4 – Reseal headlight lens

Scrape off any of the remaining sealant from the headlight lens and headlight. Then apply a fresh dab of silicone sealant around the headlight lens. Clamp the headlight lens to the headlight. Make sure that the lens won't slip as the sealant cures. It will take 24 hours for the lens to properly cure.

Double check the headlights to make sure that the lens seal has properly cured. Then install the headlights to the Wrangler. TIghten down the four Torx screws. Take your Halo LED wires and find the parking light wires. Using splice connectors, connect the positive LED wire to the positive parking light wire and connect the ground LED wire to the ground parking light wire. Reinstall the grille, reconnect the turn signal lights and the plastic tabs. Then start the Jeep and turn on the parking lights. Your new Halo LED lights should be on with the parking lights.
