Default Which PR44 setup and why?

In a few months I will more than likely be upgrading to a pr44, seeing as how my stock d30 housing is bent and I don't want to waste money on it. I'm trying to gather facts together over the next few months as to what pr44 I should get (reg or unlimited), where I should buy it, and what internals I should run.. So far I have just looked on northbridge4x4 at their unlimited package which can be preassembled. I want to be able to simply order one fully assembled and bolt it in utilizing my d30 knuckles, brakes, etc. Any suggestions?

i would get the unlimited and not just because the tubes are so much thicker but, because it also comes with outboard shock mounts and built in positive caster. it's definintely the way to go

That's what I just got! Unlimited is definitely the way to go! Get the better ball joints too! Worth it in the long run.

I'll be ordering one here soon too. I'm going unlimited. I think the biggest debate is to run RCV axles or chomolly with u joints. Also something to consider is Ried Racing knuckles. I think I'm going that route also.

As others have stated, the Unlimited version is your best option. It can be set up with any of the popular lockers and the added caster will help get your steering angles back to stock or better.

I spoke with literally dozens of PR44 owners in Moab and, without exception, they raved about the better handling. Feedback like that makes the PR44 easy to recommend.

Hmm well I think the unlimited is the obvious choice then. Would a truetrac work with the unlimited?

Yes, a Truetrac will fit. The part number is 913A589 (JK 44s use a 'thick' gear so they use the 3.73 and down case, not the 3.92 up.

I read somewhere that the front driveshaft needs to spin (if the rear is) on the JK to keep the t-case lubed.... apparently the owner's manual even advises against towing the JK on those dollies where the rear tires spin but the front don't.

I'd love to hear if locking hubs are a good or bad idea for the JK as well.

Wish I would have seen this before sending you a PM. Just want to verify this is the part for the PR44 front housing? Looking online and it says it's for a rear D44. Does that matter?
