1962 Willys Jeep: Restomod Done Properly

If someone asked us to build our perfect truck, it might look like this.

When you head out to a classic truck show, everyone seems to swoon over the dozens of barely different F100s and Chevy Apaches. How many times do you have to see the same truck covered in a slightly different shade of paint before you get bored of it? We think people should think outside the box and do something different. Drive a real truck with real pedigree and unmatchable style. You need a Willys.

And hey, look at that, we found one sitting on ClassicCars.com just waiting for a new home.

All jokes aside, it’s impossible to deny the style and panache that comes with an old Willys pickup. It’s bold and interesting, and its general rarity makes seeing one at any sort of event or show a real treat. And this particular Willys is one of the cleanest examples we have ever seen.

It’s completely restored and upgraded front to back with some impressive hardware, and the two-tone teal and white paint is perfectly classic. The chrome accents, wooden bed rails and black bed liner all add just enough contrast to keep things interesting from any angle.

And seriously with the hardware in this thing. A Chevy 350 V8 sits under the hood, where it gets upgraded with FiTech fuel injection and Sanderson headers. That gets bolted to a 700R4 transmission which sends power to the 9-inch Curry axles, all passing through a GMC transfer case to maintain that 4WD awesomeness that comes with the Jeep badge. Rounding out the “nice to drive” hardware is a Saginaw power steering conversion and power disc brakes in all four corners.

We told you, one of the cleanest Willys pickups ever. This thing is basically a brand new truck, and it should drive just as nicely. But don’t take our word for it. You can check out the gallery below to see the thing for yourself, and if you find yourself near Redding, California you can take this home for $27,000 OBO.

Just make sure you roll through the next classic car meet and show those old Chevy and Ford guys what a real classic truck looks like.
