Barbie Jeep DWI Student Voted Hero of the Year

As the old saying goes: never say never.

Because if someone would have told me that a college student riding a toddler-size Barbie Jeep to class (which we covered here some months ago) would be given a Hero of the Year Award, I would have said, “never.”

Then again, I guess we are talking about Gawker here, and not Time magazine. That’s not to say that Texas student Tara Monroe’s decision to start using the toy Jeep after receiving a DWI isn’t worthy of some year-end accolade. I’m just not sure a Hero of the Year honor fits the bill, even by crazy pop culture standards.

Well, at least I didn’t think so at first, not until I read about some of Gawker’s other 2015 honorees, which include a New York City man caught selling $30 hot dogs to tourists and a high school student pinned as the alleged mastermind in a hacking scam used to change student grades.

Yup, after further thought, I’d say America’s famous Barbie Jeep driver is right at home on this list.
