The Wrangler 4xe is best selling PHEV in U.S. for fourth year in a row, followed by the Cherokee 4xe according to first quarter sales report by FCA.

Stellantis has a lot to be proud of when it comes to the Jeep brand. The Wrangler 4xe was the best selling PHEV from the very beginning, the Wrangler is continuously crowned the best off-road SUV, and good news is a common theme according to their first quarter sales report. For instance, for the fourth year in a row, the Wrangler 4xe was the best selling PHEV in America — followed closely by the Cherokee 4xe at the second best. Both Jeeps have a fairly disappointing combined MPGe, but a huge possible factor is that both PHEVs qualify for the maximum $7,500 federal tax credit.

In other news, Wrangler 4xe sales increased by an insane 72% when compared to the first quarter of 2022, showing that the 4xe platform is quickly becoming the most popular for the Wrangler. To further prove this, out of all the Wrangler sales in the first quarter of this year, the 4xe variant accounted for 38 percent.

“As we continue to navigate the market conditions transpiring across the automotive industry, together with our dealer network, we are making the necessary adjustments to meet our customer’s expectations,” said U.S. Head of Sales Jeff Kommor. “We also continue to see strong demand for our plug-in hybrid vehicles, with the Jeep® Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe placing No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, as America’s best-selling PHEV vehicles.”

Also making an amazing comeback is the Jeep Cherokee, with sales up by 31% compared to the first quarter of last year. Additionally, out of all the Cherokees sold, a good 13% of those were the PHEV model. So, not only are Americans looking to save miles per gallon, they want to be able to do so with the confidence they’ll get to wherever they’ve got to go. As part of Stellantis’ mission of increasing hybrid and all-electric versions of the current lineup, the Wrangler and Cherokee hybrids are a positive step in the right direction.
