Jeep Beach Week Draws More Than 2,300 Vehicles to the Sand

Annual Daytona Beach Jeep event shifts from track to sand.

The Daytona Jeep Beach Week made a return to tradition of sorts for this year’s 15th annual gathering.

In recent years, organizers have capped off the annual weekend with a Jeep cruise on the track at Daytona’s International Speedway. But this year, they decided to take the cruise back to the beach.

Imagine that – a Jeep Beach Week with a beach cruise? We’re being facetious, of course. But clearly, we aren’t the only ones who think the idea might have been well overdue.

“Jeep Beach is Jeep Beach,” Mid-Florida Jeep President Jim Shaynak told The Daytona Beach News Journal. “We wanted to bring the beach back in and everybody wanted that as well.”

One thing’s clear, the Daytona Jeep Beach Week continues to draw a huge crowd. This year’s event brought in more than 2,300 Jeeps. The cruise started on International Speedway Boulevard, with other drivers joining the caravan of Jeeps along the way.

One of the draws of Jeep Beach Week, which is billed as the largest Jeep event of its kind, is the diversity. There’s a wide array of different kinds of Jeeps on hand, customized in every way imaginable.

“I thought I was doing a pretty good job getting my Jeep set up and looking good,” said attendee David Wickman. “Then you see some of these Jeeps here, and you go, ‘Oh, oh no, I haven’t even gotten started.”
