Hundreds Turn Out for Jeep Mackinac Island Gathering

Second Northern Michigan Jeep gathering wraps with off-roading on Drummond Island.
If you’re a Jeep fan, it looks like you might have missed a big one if you didn’t make the trek to the “Jeep the Mac” event held in northern Michigan.
According to an Up North Live report, close to 700 Jeeps showed up for the second-annual Jeep event. It included a caravan of Jeeps cruising over the Mackinac Bridge. Then they headed out to Drummond Island for a weekend of off-roading.
Some of the Jeep participants actually showed up as teams, with matching apparel and all. One group from St. Helen, known as “We Be Jeepin’,” showed up with 12 Jeeps and 24 people. Oh, and one dog.

Brian Beale, a participant from Livonia, Michigan, says it was great to see all the different types of Jeeps that showed up.
“It’s fantastic being around like-minded people and just checking out all of the machines and their different ideas, and how other machines should be and you get new ideas for next year,” says Beale.
Another participant from Grayling, Michigan showed up with her Jeep bearing a breast cancer theme. She hoped to use the event to help raise more awareness. And like most Jeep gatherings, it seems to be the camaraderie that she most appreciated about the event.
Carl Stone from Manistee, Michigan probably sums it up best, though.
“There is nothing like it,” he says. “It’s great. It’s a big. It’s just an addiction I guess you could say.”
