Jeep Miraculously Stays Intact During Caravan Towing Crash

By -

Want to see why you don’t ride in a RV while in tow? Here you go.

Unbelievable video from YouTubers Dash Cam Owners Australia  shows a bit of a miracle, as a Jeep driver comes out very lucky in a highway crash. While towing a caravan, the Jeep is seen slowly drifting into the passing lane, and when the driver of the jeep realizes this, they apparently make a sudden correction to stay in the outside lane.

This quick direction change ends up turning the caravan in tow into pendulum, swinging side to side a few times before finally crossing lanes, landing in the median, rolling over and breaking apart. All of this was caught on camera, and thankfully the crash was only confined to the Jeep and the camper. No other cars, especially in the oncoming lanes across the median, were involved.

Miraculously, the Jeep stayed upright in the whole process, even though the caravan dragged it across the passing lane and most of the way into the median as well. The caravan and the contents within (which are now outside) is an obvious total loss. All things considered, a wrecked camper and a banged up Jeep is very fortunate.

Let this be a warning though. As tempting as it might be to travel in ultimate comfort and luxury, this is exactly the reason why people are not permitted to ride in a caravan while it is being towed. Unlike the Jeep, roll over ratings are not in place for campers, and in this crash, someone would have been very seriously injured or worse.

Next time you’re out there with something in tow, just make sure to be well rested. You’re not only keeping yourself and your family and friends safe, but also other road users as well. So take this as a good lesson to keep alert.
