Flood season in Texas is no joke, as you can see in the footage below capturing a Jeep Wrangler innocently parked near a river before being swept away like a rubber ducky in a draining tub. Our southern states have been experiencing unusual massive flooding this season; indeed, the Guadalupe River in South Texas doesn’t look like a river, but more like a super-charged tsunami. Even if you were in the Jeep, and equipped with proper equipment, the rushing river would still own you.

Luckily the vehicle wasn’t occupied before being swallowed by the river. The owner and his family were hiking up to their campsite. This is a perfect example of covering practical procedures when preparing for a trip, like weather, safety, and where to park. Whether it’s just for a couple hours or even for those long adventures that take a couple months, preparation is critical, even down to where you park the vehicle overnight. All in all, take more time to carefully map out, gear up, and be open to seeing those icebergs right in front of your Titanic. In other words, always have a Plan B.

If you watch the video, the four-door Wrangler did have some preparation for the adventure. Look closely and you’ll see a roof-high snorkel and a tight-fitting trailer. They even brought along the soft top for dust and rain, which is on while the JK floats away. Sometimes Mother Nature just wins, no matter how well you’ve planned.
