Why Next Bronco Won’t Beat Wrangler

The Ford Bronco Has Been Out of the Game Too Long
We know, of course, that a lot of folks are growing insanely crazy over the official news that Ford is bringing back the Bronco.
But there’s no need to even ask those of us here at JK-Forum what we think about the idea, considering that no Ford SUV has ever measured up to a Jeep.

And yet, we’ve heard a few rumblings from folks who seem to think the Bronco will be a viable competitor to the Wrangler. Hard to believe, right?
Then again, we guess you can’t really blame Ford fans for wanting an SUV that has the same cachet as a Jeep. But here are a few facts they might want to consider as to why a new Bronco will never measure up to a Wrangler.
1. It Simply Is Not a Jeep
Sure, it might not sound like groundbreaking news, but a lot of the Wrangler’s appeal stems from the fact that it’s a Jeep, which is something a Bronco will never be able to claim.
2. Ford Has Gotten a Little Soft Overall
When it comes to the Wrangler, truck-like off-road capability ranks as one of its top trademarks — always has, always will. In recent years, Ford has leaned more heavily toward convenience and comfort features, so we don’t expect the Bronco to be as tough as the Jeep.
3. Wrangler’s Lasting Legacy
Even if the new Ford Bronco shows strong sales the first year, it’ll face a bigger challenge to maintain the momentum in the years to come. Especially after a 20-year absence in the marketplace. The Wrangler, on the other hand, has 75 years of longevity under its belt, which is only going to grow when the new JL model is introduced.
4. Jeep’s Custom Appeal
Ford will likely make customization a major component of the new Ford Bronco. But regardless of what they offer, it won’t come close to the kind of custom features available for the new Jeep Wrangler. We’re 100-percent certain of that.
5. Bigger Fan Base
No SUV fan base measures up to that of the Wrangler. The official Facebook page for the Wrangler alone has more than 730,000 likes. And that doesn’t include all the fanfare it gets on Jeep’s official Facebook page, which has more than 5-million likes.
