Military
Caboose,
When you signed up to "serve" this nation, keep in mind that being served is not part of the contract. You should settle it in your heart that for the next 4-8 years (depending on how long you signed up for) your soul purpose is to serve this nation, and go and work faithfully wherever you are sent.
The United States government does not exist to serve you, for you have enlisted to serve the people of the United States, at the direction of the government, and if necessary, lay down your life rather then swerve from the path of duty. The United States government does exist to serve the people of this country, and to protect them, and soon you will work for that purpose as well. Hopefully you will assist our enemies to die for their country, so you can return and live free in ours.
God be with you on this journey,
Gar

Oh that's funny... I think there is a joke thread here somewhere, this should be in that.
You go where:
- the job is open,
- for someone at the rank required to fill it,
- with enough TIS left on the books to complete the assignment rotation.
As a new enlistee, your chances would be... oh... about nil. ANYONE with more than one day in service will outrank you on assignment. and there are at any given time how many new airman being pumped out? you are competing, with basically no accumulated anything, against everyone in the Air Force that has a PCS upcoming.
It isnt impossible to get a base you want, but it happens damned seldom. you may get one of the top few you "hope" for, but that is usually about it.
No, there isnt anything you can "do" to change your chances. You will go where you are needed to do the job you are assigned to do.
Oh... BTW... i think someone tried to tell you once before... RECRUITERS LIE ALL THE TIME.
i was top of my class in school, and had first choice of orders.
that only means that out of my class, i chose first. from what was available. not from what i wanted. this is the military, brah. but don't sweat it. you chose AF. that's hilton all the way, baby.

Even if you just do a few years in the Air Force, you'll have some experiences that nobody can take from you... and you'll be a member of the like under 5% of all Americans that ever served in the military.
Best of luck.

AIR FORCE !!!!
I had made it to Flight Leader; but my knee gave out during a double time march just before graduation from Basic and they gave me an Honorable Medical Discharge ( epts .. football injury ).... on a side note the knee has been scoped 3 times since and It could use to be replaced ..... guess they knew what they were doing !!?????
It was a shame to go through all that and not complete it !!!
