Kayak fishing
Been thinking about buying a Malibu tandem kayak for me and the misses. They seem real neat and look like they would be great for back country/inshore fishing. Anyone had any experiance with these?
A tandem with the wife is a quick way to a short divorce.........
Seriously tho, try this website......tons of good info:

I have been thinking about hitting Texoma soon. Are you fishing the lake or the spillway?
How's the top water bite? Any fly fishing going on out there?
BTW, I must sold my yukon xl and am trying to figure out how to transport 2 tarpon 160i's on my Rubi.
Any hints/pictures of Jeeps carrying yaks? I don't have a cargo system like a Kongo Cage or anything like that. Just want something easy and cheap. And safe.
Thanks.

I've used my kongo cage and traveled with just on pool noodles and straps, both have worked for me. my kayak is only 12'. your's are 16', right. you should be able to make it work. this week we're camping at west burns run (just north of the dam). I've just been hitting the shoreline there or paddling out near some striper guides that have been showing up every morning. We have a new ski boat, so it's taking up a lot of my time. They've been releasing water daily, so i have been below the dam. there are alot of fan boats out there though.

I think I will try the noodles cut down one side and splayed over the top of the windshield and then also secure the yaks to the middle and rear portion of the roll cage.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Good luck fishing!

I have 2 10ft pelicans, I used the cartop foam on the windshield header, rested the rear on the rollbar padding. strapped down the ends to the bumpers. For overkill I ran a strap from the front footman loop (where the soft top header attaches) over the kayak to the drivers side (slots in the rear tub), repeated on the otherside. steady as a rock.

I managed to pop down to Corpus last weekend and fish Aransas with my little bro and a couple of guides from Slowride (great shop and guides). The flats by Light House Lakes, and then Brown and Root are alot of fun.
The fishing was good, the scenery was great, but the point of my post is to emphasize that if you are going to buy a kayak, test ride it first. The first day we used a yak I hadn't been in before (the guide is sponsored by the brand we used, and I don't want to trash that brand bc I know many people like them), and I must say it made me really miss my Tarpon 160i, especially because the next day, our guide was able to grab Tarpons for us from the shop.
Wilderness Systems makes a very nice kayak.
