What a good size camper trailer or pop up camper to pull behind a JK? I have a 2011 w/ 4" lift and 35s. Stock gearing for now, I'm in search of a camper BUT don't wanna kill the lil fella pulling anything too big!

 

Picked up this one from Camping world. Jeep pulls it well.

 

Would you happen to know the size and weight?

 

This is our camper. Used to pull it with our TJ before we got our 2013 JK. One of the best investments we ever made. Made by Microlite. Right around 1500 lbs empty.

 

12' closed, between 18-20' open and weighs 2100 empty.

 

We have a small pop up. 8 foot box. Only weighs 1300 lbs. it works right now while our kids are small but we will eventually upgrade to a bigger one or a small hybrid. I really like the look of the Jayco 17z but for now the Coachman is getting the job done.

 

Coleman/Fleetwood cobalt, comes in around 1,300 empty, they are no longer made but you can find some for sale here and there. They are pretty basic campers, I lucked out and found one with AC. I just purchased it, but plan on pulling it with my JK rubicon 6 speed.

First time with the Coleman Cobalt and some wheelin during the day. The jeep pulled it very well, still need to get the trailer brakes hooked up.

 

tae73... Don't worry about the brakes unless your state requires them for the weight or you would be more comfortable. I have pulled my Cobalt several times up and over the Rockies and have never had any issues stopping. Only wiring was converting the 4-wire flat plug to the 7-wire one. When I bought the Cobalt in 2008 the dealer installed the wiring on my 2008 JKU and they removed the 4-wire. When I bought my 2012 JKU I just bought an adapter and bracket and did it myself. That way I have the 4-wire if needed and just plug a pigtail into it when I pull the Cobalt.
