Default Any RIPP Supercharger users in California?

Im looking into a supercharger kit. Unfortunately, I live in California and am very concerned about failing the SMOG test. Anybody use a RIPP supercharger in CA? If so, any problems passing the SMOG test?

Thanks,

While I don't have any experience with the kit it's self. As long as the stock cats are used you should have no problem passing the sniffer. The visual could be a problem depending on who smogs you Jeep and how anal they are.

Check with a guy on the forum know as Mituk. He just put one in and trail tested it this past Saturday for the first time.

From what I have read, you simply disconnect the belt, and it operates as stock. Not sure what effect the *tuning* (especially via the new Diablo that's included with the 2nd gerenation RIPP supercharger) will have on emissions though. Perhaps you could have two tune profiles - a stock tune for smog purposes and then a tune that is customized to the supercharger?

Just thinking.

Does California do a visual? If so, it might fail even with the belt off.

Not sure, but if they did, couldn't you say that it is for "off road use only"?

CA does have to visually inspect, to insure that the smog equiptment is installed and connected. I would contact RIPP to find out about CA smog compliance questions.

That would be the best thing to do. Speaking with the guy's selling the kits would be best. Nothing like first hand info.

In Califknia, if the vehicle's emissions are modified and there's no CARB number for the component, it WILL fail the visual inspection.
