Shamrocked 2011
I'd love to but I have to finish building my chili cook-off booth this weekend. The Porterville Chili Cook-Off is April 16th and this is my last free weekend before that.
BTW, if you folks aren't busy that day, come on down and support the Bear Foot Chili booth.

Afterwards, I can introduce you to a great place for a Suds & Grubs down here in Porterville.

it looks like there might be two caravans out of the Fresno area, i am trying to get all of Friday off to leave as early as possible, i have to take advantage of my weekens ( making them 3 days) before summer starts....because we get SLAMMED during summer
My buddy and I were thinking of leaving Sactown around 6 or 7am to get to Fresno around 9 or 10am so I can get down to SoCal early enough to find a motel room. Any suggestions on where there are any and how much they are? My tent got destroyed last year and I don't have any camping equipment anymore.
Mind if I ask what you do for work?
I think the earliest people are leaving is around 1pm........
You will want to look at hotels in Tehachapi, CA it's the closest to the campsite and hotels are pretty reasonable........BUT CostCo has a NICE COLEMAN tent that a bunch of forum members have bought, it's $59 and nice sleeping bags for $29, so IMO I would hit costco and get your basics, as far as cooking stuff, there will be plenty of people there that can help you out. Just a suggestion that it might be a cheaper route actually purchasing the gear then a hotel.........

Can we park next to or close to where ever people are camping? If so my buddy and I can just sleep on my air mattress in the back of the Jeep. That'd save me some money! lol. I might even buy a bottle of that honey stuff everyone is talking about if I end up camping.
