Cool Check the local regs.

It is much harder to stay below the radar in Canada, Canadian authorities tend to not look the other way when it comes to "undocumented workers". You will probably have a limited amount of time to have your vehicle inspected, registered and insured.....usually 30 days. I had to pay sales tax on my five year old vehicle when I registered it, that was a hit I had not planned for.

Try to comply with the law of the land and don't get deported before you get to go explore the Canadian shield. (not suggesting you wouldn't)

As others have said, beautiful country, great people and a much more laid back attitude.

Wow alot going on here regarding bringing in the JK.... I was told that because I am coming into Canada with a job already arranged and applying for a work visa I would not have to do anything as far as registering and insuring etc I would be cool to run on my current tag, insurance and license with my residence in the states that I am keeping. This masounds like nmore research is needed...not giving up the JK or "buying it again" $$ anybody been thru this?

You shouldn't have to do anything. It's your jeep and transportation. It's not like you're a canadian buying it there. There won't be a problem. As long as it's plated and insured there isn't an issue. I'm kind of jealous of the location though. Should have taken that job in Lindsay lol.

Thanks Man...I really am looking forward to the change! after I get settled i'll definitely be looking to do some wheelin. I was checking out the big event in Bobcageon in August but looks like it's a sellout. When I went snowmobiling in upper Ontario a few weeks ago I kept saying to myself "I sure hope there are places like this to take my JK" that is some beautiful country up there!

There is a waiting list. Doesn't hurt to get on it

There are lots of events in that area all summer long. So don't worry You will get lots of wheeling in. The guys from here head up to BobC all the time for private runs too, so just keep an eye out. If you're really desperate just hang out at the BobC Tim Hortons parking lot lol thats where most groups meet up before hitting the trails, just tag along lol.
