Default Diffs oil change

I went to get my diffs changed , front and back from local minute lube. Had it done before from them and no problems. This is 4 days ago. Last night I noticed oil along the inside of my front drivers side wheel well. It looks like oil coming from the breather tube. Today i now see oil spots by the rear driverside wheel well. Not sure were the breather tube is for the back diffs. I think they put the wrong oil in both diffs. It seams like a light oil. Have to go back monday and check and see what they did. Maybe they just over filled it. Hope that is all they did. i also checked the brake fluid to make sure as it is covered with this oil too. It is ok.

Just did mine today for the first time as I am no mechanic, and it is super easy... but how can you overfill... unless you don't have the stock covers. With stock covers, you fill until it starts to ooze out, you just can't add more... Try smelling the oil up close, the diff oil has a very particular odor, quite stincky !

How often does this need to be done? I had my oil changed at super lube recently and they checked the diff oil and offered to do I for like 200$ tried to say it required a special tool to drain it. Were they bs'in me? It's an 07 and I got it off a lot so I have no idea if it's ever been done. I do know that it's black. Which seems bad.

Ask them what special tool it is. Didn't realize a ratchet and an Allen key was a special tool. They are bs'n you. Do it yourself it's a piece of cake

Sounds like they were going to charge you the cost of a couple Snap On tools then turn around and likely keep the tools for themselves instead of give them to you.

But they probably have these simple tools, nothing special about them, and charge you for them.

Maybe the $200 quote was for a real high dollar synthetic lube and additive, did you get any details of what type of lube they were going to use?

He pulled something up on the comp that showed requirements for each veh.. (filter sizes, amount of oils.. Wiper size, ect). He showed me that the mfctr says it has to have synthetic.. I assume this isn't true?
