My 08 has the same issue, so I took it to the dealer an they had said that it is a check valve inside the gas tank itself that is failed or clogged, so a new tank is ordered to e replaced! It sucks to have my baby on down time , lol. But I also am just hitting 30,000 miles as well so maybe it should be a recall

i got my tank changed last week, by the dealership. Take it in with as little gas as possible, the only fix as stated my others in the foreum is to replace the whole tank.

Unfortunatly there is only one tank to fit the jk. the same model number was installed. there are no modifications to the tank. It may happen again.

Another issue is the higher amount of ethanol they are blending in gasoline. The nozzles on gas pumps don't like to shut off with ethanol for some reason. So I am thinking that maybe it was a minor problem before that is becoming worse as they blend more in. I have only filled my new (to me) Jeep up 5 times or so, but it has overflowed every time unless I back off the handle a bit as it gets close to full. I have 44k miles btw...

Check this out https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...TSA-About-Time

This is a legitimate problem and NOT operator error, if you are experiencing this problem, please file a complaint...............it takes all of 5 mins. There is a link to file a complaint in the above linked thread, just click, file complaint and click again to send it on its way.

Be proactive, file that complaint. I feel your pain! Gasoline is way too expensive to have it regurgitated all over the place, especially on our paint jobs.
