Lingham Ocean
Well we made it out there. Scotts install took about 15 minutes and we were off. Had my buddy Serge in the Frakecon out with us also.
Scott had inside info that the "water crossing" wasnt that bad. Boy was that info wrong. But we will get to that later.
Started of kind of nice. Your basic rock filled Hydro line run. Then some sort of flying Velociraptor started landing on my hood. I do have a pic of it, but it is on the camera not the memory card and I havent uploaded that software yet. I might get to. This frigging thing followed us for like 5 km. It was about the size of Scotts Unlimited. Brutal.
So we get to the Spot in Dions video where he went fishing. Scott is in the lead with me second and Serge bringing up the rear. Scott starts into it with me about 50 meters behind him watching very closely the depth. Hmmm starting to get a little deep, but not too bad....HOLY CRAP Scotts SPARE is about 1/3 rd under water!. Ok enough for me too deep, coming just abouve my front fenders. Into reverse. As I do that i see Scotts reverse lights come on and as soon as he does that I see his ass end FLOATING. Oh jesus this isnt good....so I am trying to back up without going too fast and keep an eye on Scott and wonder how I am going to swim while unspooling my winch and continue backing up. But he is able to get some grip and make it back. While I am backing up I go by a floating bog, which as soon as I passed it, it floated directly into Scotts path....he didnt give shit...just pushed it ON SHORE. You can see it here on the bottom left of the pic:

Gee great. So I look down and wonder why I have an empty Coke bottle floating at my feet.,.....HOLY shit there is like 4 inches of water at my feet.....dammit....carpets...OUT.....drain plugs OUT....
here are my carpets:

You may notice the water draining off of them. Lets go talke a quick look at Scotts Jeep:

Oh gee good....and he has never taken his carpets out....he now knows how to do them quickly
We got out of it...no worse for wear. I do have a new mod on my jeep though, I call it my "license plate bracket and spring mod"

Scott will now be known as the SS WRAITHY.
After we got dried out, we turned around. And guess what? We found a way around the Lingham ocean!. ya probably should have taken that right at first but oh well lesson learned.
All in all it was some great wheeling with about 10 minutes of sheer terror. I never want to be in that situation again, and as a matter of fact after we got off the trail, we bumped into two forum members from Ottawa. One of them seemed to have from what we could tell, hydrolocked, and bent a rod. And they didnt even go as far as the ocean. We think it might have been on Lingham Lake Rd, which we didnt do today as by then we were fed up with water.
Anyway guys you missed a great run (cept the water part) and we would like to go back but run it in the opposite direction next time. (Better climbing)

Not a lot of them guys. The water thing we were obviously busy, and a little panicky. Scott actually heard his engine go quiet when it fully submerged.

Yup that was quite the rush please note when water is at door handles the jeep becomes buoyant, panic sets in when you hear Niagara Falls pooring in the jeep from all around (door seals, HVAC, through the doors,.
glad i had all that kit in the rear or it could have been worse
yes apparently the spare tire acts as a water wing.
it was nice to find the go around.
yes met up with a couple of EOTB guys that will be going on the PA run
this trail needs to be done again but from cooper to cloyne route
at least i'm SS wraithy and not dasboot
seriously that was the scariest feeling ever i never had any automobile float.
that was a seriously freaky feeling
ya we never took the north 4wd access road to lingham lake where we may have met up with the mobile EOTB crew
but it was nice to be driving down a country rd and see 2 stopped JKs and meet some fellow owners that were not familiar faces
CAS your jeep is ok!
Pat's jeep is not!

Yeah, that looks rather moist. The only decent thing would be that atleast with all that water, it would clean the stains out of my shorts that would no doubt be there as I started to float.
I picked up my beast on Thursday, got the soft top all set up yestarday, and today we went to the lake, had a little camp, bit of a swim and fish etc. My daughter made a little video, so i'll see if she gets that posted to youtube to watch. Going back up tomorrow am before I head to work.
Looks like you guys had a great time regardless, and hopefully nothing got busted. Looking forward to joining on one of the outings. My son has been asking every day when we are going wheeling...
I may have to find a decent spot i can't get in any trouble locally and take him on a short trek.
Cheers
Marc

If you want Marc, this week give me a call. Right beside my house is some very light wheeling with some mud and a little bit of water. Literally we could spend 10 min there and give your son some mud time. Wash Racks are just around the corner

I am free all week. Give me a shout.
Todd
