Default New Bumpers

Okay so I finally got the new bumpers. Installation went fairly well on the front until I figured out I had to mount the winch first after I got the bumper mounted . So after I did it twice, it went on fairly easy. All I have to do now is wire up the winch to the battery. I want time to take stuff out and fish the wires in behind everything.

The rear bumper however took awhile. I was supposed to drill holes into the rear cross member to attach the bumper to it for solidity. Well after I put the bumper up and on the rear (heavy as hell) I started drilling where the prefab holes came in the bumper. I found that the holes in the bumper lined up exactly where there were circular reinforcement pieces inside the cross member of the 08!

So after bitching and complaining for a bit I sat down and had a beer and weighed my options. I could continue with drilling the cross member or I could drill holes into the new bumper where there were already holes in the cross member. . This seemed like the best option so I got to work. Man sometimes steel can be hard. It helps with sharp drill bits too...and cutting oil if you have it.

SO, I got the holes drilled into the new rear bumper and mounted it up on the cross member. I went to put the bolts into the bumper that came with it and found they were too short ....I had to get a couple of the bolts I removed from the trailer hitch and cut them down to fit. wow what a pita. I do however like the way it looks now, although i may as well take the rear view mirror off. The 35's take up the whole back window lol.

Here it is done. I really like it.

I like it! There's always something to figure out when you are "customizing"...

I went with a Titan winch. Duncan at Titan Off Road is straight up. I got the Titan 12W. It comes with a wired and wireless remote, roller fairlead, front hook as well as a cover and everything you need to mount it up.

The bumpers are aftermarket and I had a buddy fabricate them for me. They are pretty tough. I then went nuts with Herculiner lol. Did the bumpers, front grill and now I'm thinking about the door sills, window mount corner pieces and my doors off mirror mounts.

Only problem is the wife won't let me near her Jeep with the Herculiner.

Looks good man!! I finally have saved enough to purchase 35" s! Now i can install all my goodies that have been sitting in my basement!!!!!!!!!!!

On a side note it took me forever to find a dealer that had them price reasonable! Nitto trail grapplers mt 35"x12.5x17" $459!!!!!! AND THATS WITH A TRI CITY JEEP CLUB DISCOUNT!!! What a f@$#ing joke. I finally found a place in Brampton that got me a set of toyo's for just over $300 installed and balanced! Tire prices in the tri city area are ridiculous!
