new job and jeep *warning rant and venting*
ok so I applied for a job with a company
the supervisor who hired me, stated that I would be in a lead role + more money and that I would be compensated mileage to and from work.
with the exception of a 30km start
so i worked things out and it still worked in my favour to take the job even though the jeep in my DD.
after 4 days or driving 100 kms to work and 100kms home and for that i would have made 51$ in mileage.
well after asking repeatedly if i will be compensated and i need to know yes or no well they never answered and kept beating around the bush.
so i sent emails called the supervisor that he needs to respond to my email or else i'm done as i was loosing money not making money
cost to drive 200kms a day in jk was 35$
4 hrs shifts or 6 hr shifts i was not getting ahead and if so it was at a snails pace not including the 2hr 20min i was on the road for each day
so today i quit i gave them the same answer they gave me "none" emails were sent to head office telling them how i felt and how i was deceived.
glad i didn't quit my other job.
Now i have to go after my pay of which 19hrs of work but they don't pay orientation for no i'm down to 9hrs at regular wages and training at minimum wage for 6hr and 140$ in fuel costs an ya i took a job and actually went back wards WTF
it is official I took the idiot award....at least that is how i feel

I know how you feel Scott I drive to toronto everyday it is a 250km round trip, It cost me about $25/day for fuel, and $12-$16/day for parking. So every week I am looking at a minimum of $180/week in fuel and parking, and no compensation until tax time, and this is in my chevy impala that is decent on fuel, I drove the Jeep a few days and it was $40 in fuel.....so I am glad i have the car as an option to drive otherwise I would be in financially f%^cked. Even at $35/hour It hurts with the cost of going to work!!! Hope all works out for you Scott and you get what is owed to you!!!!
Wow, sorry to hear that Scott.
Can't blame yourself for boss' and that companies ingnorance....
Wow, long time ago I did a stint like that in the delivery business. After all the dust settled, I was making like $125/week....wtf.....same kind of deal.

I would take a very close look at your province's employment standards legislation. It's amazing how many employers choose to ignore it and don't get caught. I had an employer screw me for a year without me knowing it (OT, shift starts, etc.,) and when I finally read the legalese and called it on them, they had to pay me a lot of money or face a lawsuit/regulatory fines.
I sympathize with the commuting. Last year I had to commute 400km round trip once-twice per week for an army contract. Army gave me about $40.00 per trip and it cost more like $60.00 (at $1.00/liter gas!). I'm glad that contract's over.

Another sad story from an industry that is failing its employees and its own image on a horrible horrendouos level. So much so its embarassing.
These guys just want to fill contracts and get paid, they give a rats arse about the employees or the clients.....its pathetic.
Hopefully your original position is good for you for now, if so, you've managed to find one of the very few out there.
