Default No doors in the rain

Anyone else get stuck with no doors on thursday around lunch when the frazy hail/rain/thunderstorm came through? I did..... 1 inch of rain in the bottom of the jeep. well, the carpet is out now!

I still have to take pictures of it.. but there is this rubber like substance in rows on the floor pans on the driver side, passenger side as well as the back. its pretty hard except there is a piece where mine is breaking up a bit and its rubbery there... is it for sound dampening? anyone know?

as well i have a bit of rust forming around one of my plugs! we will see what the dealership says about it.

yea that stuff is just weird sound dampening shit...its all over the trunk too if you take the carpets out. Lots of people just remove it. When i drove around with no carpets for a while most of it flaked off on the drivers side.

i never got caught last thursday, but i had no doors on for 3/4 of last summer. Man you get alot of looks driving in the rain with no doors. LOL
I'll never do it again, even for 1mm of rain, as the moldy/musty smell from the interior is hard to get out. :(

I have had my doors of for a while now. Had to do a few errands today so i was out in the rain. I did put the soft top up which helped. Didn't get too wet. Just have to watch out for cars going by you with big puddles splashing up.

I love my rig, but....Is anyone else annoyed at how the rain pours off the side of softtop onto the kick-plate and into the footwells.

It would have been better engineered with a 1-inch wider roof or the kick-plates angling outward, sending rain out, not in.

I run doorless for most of the summer and been caught in rain often - in reply to a post above - remove the mats, take the softtop down and leave it in the sun - the interior dries out quickly being a dark color.

I do hate that dripping. It was a PITA when i was camping in the back and it was raining. The rear doors were worse.

Took off the doors for the very first time yesterday afternoon.
Man was that fun driving around with nothing beside you.
I was a little worried after reading some posts about how difficult it may be to remove them the first time, but they popped right off. No Problems.
This is going to be a fun summer.
Got it all sealed back up before the 7pm rain.
Also
Funny, First time with the soft top after a rain I didn't realize you had to get in quick.
As soon as I put weight on the side, the Jeep tipped just enough so all the water sitting on the top came right over to me.
It's a Jeep thing.

It's a little bit harder the first time for sure... I haven't taken them off the JK yet, but with the TJ it took a little effort the first time....

Try swinging the door while pulling up, little at a time... I've heard of people getting them off with a high-lift, although be careful with that obviously...

After you get them off, a little anti-seize on the hinge pins, should make them easier the next time....
