Our 2.5 Teraflex Suspension Lift...Day 1
Gotta laugh at that...Day 1
Only because I have never done anything extreme to the Jeep other than removing the mud flaps or installing a stabilizer. This is the first time...
We'll start with I can honestly say Youtube is the ish, best teacher out there
After watching the Teraflex lift kit video and reading tons of write ups here on the site (Also bugging Bruce -2summer ten times a day for the past week) I felt confident enough to tackle it alone. So there I was 12:30 this afternoon with the rain coming down and the coffee almost done, it was time I got a wrenchin'
Had a friend show me the poor mans jack stands, 3 patio slabs stacked under my way too small 2 ton jack stands. Then he says he has to go...Lucky me, needless to say that was my first break, about 1:15 pm
I reread the manual and watched that teraflex video again and again. Step by step I started with the rear end, I learned quikly WD-40 came in handy, bigtime. I soon realized it was easier than I thought if you just take your time, cross your t's, dot your i's you know all that good stuff. Than who do I hear pull up, an even more badass Jeep than man (Not for long
none other than Bruce. Came to the rescue. At that point I was half done the rear, installing bumpstops and sway bar links, couple of tricks ya showed the kid there, thanks a bunch there Bruce. <------I made sure he had a crack a messin' with those bumpstops with those itty bitty bolts no one in their sane mind can work with
About an hour later we had done pretty much finnished the back, just a few odds and ends bolt tightening etc. Finally set the tires back on about 10pm, and called it a night. Front end tomorrow. Went from 23.5 to 25 inches from ground to rear bumper. Pretty satisfied I must say. Well worth the time it took to learn about the vehicle I half own (Royal Bank owns the other
) And rewarding to know that I did it with the help of some knowledgable fellas.
Bilstein Shocks a plus, got the upgrade for cheap at Northridge4x4 . CAnada (inside joke) <---I first negotiated with the American Northridge4x4
I'm trying to upload pics but it's saying the files are too big. 7.4 MB per pic to much? Any suggestions?

Sounds like an adventure.
I'm looking to get the same lift with the bilstein shocks. Your saying you got the lift cheaper from Northridge in Canada than you could from Northridge down south? It would be a lot easier to get it from northride4x4.ca than having to have it shipped to the states and paying duty when I bring it across the border.

As you can see Day 2 ended pretty late lastnight... Rookie mistakes
Got started in the freezing rain/hail about 12pm, but lucky for us we had slight coverage from the overhang in front of garage, still got my butt soaked. I started with the torquing of the rear as it sat all night then lifted the front. I must say the front was easier for me, I guess it's the extra hardware you need for the rear that takes the time and understanding ( Trackbar relocater) It didn't take much timeto get the springs out and new ones in. Problem was them Bilsteins 5100. It appears as though the upper bolt is not long enough to fit the housing with the 2 gromettes and washers supplied. The bolt just would not catch, we tried lifting the axel compressing the shock but nothing worked. Called Stan at Northridge, he says no one had issues with it from what he heard. But I also remember seeing someone else here on the site had the same issue. After about 30 minutes I came up with the solution, I grabbed an exacto and shaved the side wall edge of the grommets ever so slightly so they can better fit the washers. Pictures to come...
So in with the shocks, springs, JKS quik discos and tires back on. Voila. Presto. Abracadabra

I step back from the JK, and think to myself "Wow the front end looks an awful lot taller then the rear, about 2 inch pucks worth.

I had a BB and totally forgot to remove the front pucks. I mean totally slipped my mind!!!! So there I was about 6 O'clock with the JK back on stands fixing my stupid mistake ( Won't ever happen again
) Removing springs and pulling those bloody pucks out was so humbling, lmfao.
Got done a bit later about 9pm because I had a buyer for the Mickey Tompsons I posted on Kijiji friday come and pick them up. Had a few asking and I actually had to pick and choose who I would sell them to, when does that ever happen
400.00 I got for em, paid 750.00 used from 2summer so winner winner chicken dinner
So finally go to torque all 20 nuts, turns out I stripped one of the wheel studs and nuts ( must have been the first nut I put on while the wheel wasn't flush on the studs) Totally a lack of patience and empty stomach. Only myself to blame. But no biggie, drove to Cobourgistan to pick up a new stud and replaced the damaged one... No pictures to come on that one, too embarrasing
Final thoughts... Very easy job, you don't NEED a second pair of eyes but it SURE does HELP. Besides it passes the time when your exhausted and every little thing is hilarious. I have to personally thank Bruce, your help and knowledge was much appreciated. I think if you have the right tools and gumption you can do tackle a mod like this. Well worth the time it took to work on the JK myself and save big
I would be more than willing to help anyone with their future suspension lift cause I think I just may have gotten that itch I been hearing about when you start modding you JK. Pics are coming, going to compress em and post soon. Any questions, although I'm no expert let me know.
First time for everything and this one was amazing
