Default Rear Diff Leaking

Looks like some new RC trail damage has presented itself. Noticed today that the rear diff has a little drip, not much maybe a drip every couple hours, but enough I could see a small spot on the drive.

I took a good look and there is some obvious signs of trail rash on the on underside of the diff. I am thinking I may have loosened off the seal scraping over a rock or two... or three... As it is leaking from the bottom.

I tighted up the bottem bolt bit, it had back off about a quarter turn.

Might be a good time to invest in some new diff covers.

As an asside i took it in to the stealership today for oil lube filter and tire rotation, with their ubber 40 point check, breaks suspension etc. It appears they didn't notice this.....

Who has a good recommendation on diff covers.

Solid , ARB, Riddler?

Cheers

JKDad.

Oh yeah, noticed a big cut on the side wall of one of my tires too.... its now my spare,

That brings the RC carnage up to, two valve stems, one tire and a rear diff cover.

Cheers

Diff. leaking issues are due to the RRC Side Armor. Get rid of these rock guards and your diff. should stop leaking...

I've got the Riddlers and am very pleased with them.

They are very solid and heavy as hell.....Check out this video, it's what finally made me decide to go with them.

Hope this helps

just another excuse for 35's now hey mark?

i have solids I got them during the 50% off sale so they were a great deal and they've held up perfect, and taken some really hard hits. I know todd and rod are both also running the solids.

Rod and Todd, aren't those the names of Ned Flanders sons? LMAO

Solids are nice, but the bolts are a PITA..

My rear diff was leaking pretty bad. It sprayed the whole back of my trailer on the way home from Raush..

I love the look of the ARB's but they are pricey

I agree with Chris,
I have the SOLIDs and find the fill hole is a PITA to know how much diff fluid you have in there. I like the ARBs with the dip (at least I like the idea of that , but I've never used them)

Hey Mark, you want a good deal on used SOLID covers?

I run the Riddlers, very VERY impressed They take a hell of a pounding with no sign or indication of damage... Like Captain Hook said they are heavy as hell.

I've heard some people having problems with waranties because "you re-inforced the cover but not the diff, we don't cover diff anymore"...

I kept the stock covers, but went with these:

went on a few slides on the rocks and it protects fine as it drops 1/4" lower than the housing ! And I have a small stain (no drips) and my dealer said if it starts to drip, he is going to redo the seal on waranty !!!

I knew a few of the guys here were running the solids, and that there have been some issues with the bolts. The ARB do look nice, and the dip stick seams very handly. Any one have and experience with them?

And yeah Dave, definitely another reason for 35s. However I just picked up a new laptop and my lovely bride came home a week before RC and told me she had bought a used camper trailer for 4k.... This pretty much writes off my overtime for a few months.... New rims and 35s will likely have to wait until spring, the diff covers I can manage now.

Dave PM with your schedule so I know which days are good for you to get out. I am thinking some time during november, likely a saturday.

Cheers
