Default recovery straps

THIS IS FROM ANOTHER SITE NOTHING TO DO WITH ME
JUST THOUGHT WOULD POST SEEMS LIKE GOOD DEAL?--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been making customs Recovery Straps/Tow Straps For a couple Industrial Facorys Around me, They are Sold with different types of machinery. By custom I mean custom length with stiched loop ends. These are made of high strength nylon webbing and the breaking strength varies with width of nylon. I am putting this out there if anyone is looking for a custom strap.... I do have 10ft-50ft lengths already assemebled of most widths.

Strenth ranges from 1" wide webbing has 7500lbs breaking strength up too 6" wide having 55,000lbs breaking strength.

Pricing - 1'x15' (7500lb strength) $10.00 1'x30' (7500lb strength) $18.00

1" 7500lbs is great for an atv

personally I wouldn't do this I would want to know that the product that I buy is engineered for the purpose that i'm using it for.

princess auto has good straps as does the tractor supply company.

I just got a Teraflex strap obviously it is engineered for our purpose it also includes red thread that if the strap is worn the thread will start to show as a warning as to wear.

the biggest killer to straps is dirt in the fibers
being put away wet and UV exposure.

I once contacted a company that made straps for a company that I worked at they made hoise straps they even did custom embroidery on the strap with say company name. I asked if they would make a strap with my web nick name and the following specs 2" 25ft for minimum strength of 22,000 lbs they were all up for it till they asked what i was going to do with it then they said no we can't do that.

something to do whith shock load on strap and liability issues.

at least with a strap that is designed for our purpose from a manufacturer that engineered the product and sold the product with that purpose then if the strap failed you can take your beef up with them.

Hoisting straps are just that. To lift or pull with mimimum stretch at max tension.

If you were to use something like that, it would guarantee some sort of parts flying from the vehicle.

Recovery straps are designed to stretch 20-30 percent. It acts like an elastic giving the stuck vehicle an extra oomph. The idea is usually to have a slow to medium roll so as to maintain momentum and allow the strap to stretch and rebound.

Another common misconseption is to get the biggest strap possible. A 6 inch strap rated for 55,000 lbs would act exactly the same as a hoisting strap. The Jeep does not have sufficient weight to make it stretch so that it could would effectively. This would however work in a multi vehicle recovery where by two vehicles are pulling one out...al la Camel Trophy style.

Dont forget good quality rope for "snatching" situations.

I have tried talking to the Black Hatters down here about getting us a bunch of the rope they use to tie up battleships, no luck. But that stuff is great for doing a hard fast tug....

We did a recovery here where a strap didnt work....hooking a winch into me dragged me, he had a naval rope we hooked up and I used about 3 foot of slack and through pure hate and aggresion got him out. Hence a "snatch" recovery.

Go with one that's 2-3 inch (wide) by a 30 ft long. It should be rated for a minimum of 20000 lbs or close to it.
