Tire Question/s
Hey Guys,
I am finally ready to buy new tires (33's) and was looking at what everyone thought of their tires overall and how they perform in mud, snow, ice and everything under the sun. I wheel a bit up north, tow a Seadoo however this is also my DD.
I Have been looking at the KM2's and Toyo Open Country M/T's. Redboyz mentioned the Dick Cepek Mud Country and that Procomp is having a buy 3 get one free sale right now but keep going back to the KM2's or TOC M/T's.
Any help is greatly appreciated....have spent all day reading old threads and my brain hurts!
Thanks Guys,
Bohdie

i got the toyos, love them. haven't had a winter with them yet tho so we'll see, but for summer wheeling they are perfect, you can air them down to 10-12psi easy and with the crazy strong sidewalls they are pretty much unbreakable. I've seen a bunch of km2's tear going over the same terrain as me and I've never had any problems. Only downside is...they are heavy suckers.
It really depends on what you want out of a tire and how many Km's you're putting on as a DD. Do you want to go with an AT or a MT/Mudder. Look or function or both and how much do you want to break the bank.
We currently run MTZ's and couldn't be happier. They now have aprox 20,000 kms on them, they are wearing very well. So far they've worked great in everything we've put them thru including the crazy ass snow we'd get up in Barrie. What we've found is that in the winter they run amazing at 20 - 18 psi (front & rear). Out on the trails they've handled everything that the Open Country's & KM2's have... I'd have no problem what so ever picking up another set.
If a MT/Mud tire is too aggressive (I know you can never go too aggressive) for a DD you might want to look at the BFG All-Terrain T/A KO's. I've run and wheeled with these on 2 other lifted Jeeps, had them on a 3/4 ton pickup and a SUV... They wear amazingly (both Jeeps were DD to the point where I was putting on almost 1000kms per week commuting just to work, not to mention any of the the wheeling).. The only thing is in the Mudd you just have to spin them a little harder to keep the tread clean. If I were still commuting 200kms round trip every day, we'd be running and wheeling these on the rig instead of the MTZ's
Well that's my 2 cents worth.

I have about 30 000 on my dick cepek mud countrys.
I still have a little more than 2/3 tread left... till their bald.
They do great in mud and deep snow, about as good as any mud tire on ice.
They have some noise to them on the highway. doesn't bug me at all. makes it sound like a jeep. I plan on replacing them with the same tire when they are done.
