I didn't see any smoke while I was down there, and I was all the way up in Corolla down to Hatteras.

I think it was from the fire in Carolina that happened today or within the last couple days...

It's been burning for a while, but where I'm at (Wilson, about 2 hours west of Manteo, 40 minutes east of Raleigh) all the news says here about it is "huge fire in Dare County"... but I can't get a good sense of how smokey it actually is on the Outer Banks... There are 3 fires burning in NC and unfortunately, the smoke from all three are currently crossing where I live. Tuesday (6-21-11) was horrible here in Wide Awake, but has started to thin out.

Me too, more than 70 square miles have burned from the Dare County fire alone...

I took my stock JKU to Uwharrie when I first got it also. I went on one trail and kept scraping the bottom going over the dirt humps. I even went over at an angle to shorten the wheel base. A 3" lift is in the future plans so that doesn't happen anymore...
I also go to the North End of Carolina Beach, love that place!
