Maryland off road places
What does everybody think about doing a "mini Jamboree" next spring/summer here in Green Ridge Forest (Western MD) or another local MD spot? Please let me know what you think because I might start planning something. For those that don't know Green Ridge Forest (website), it has a 18 mile ORV trail (MAP). The trail is fairly basic but is still quite a bit of fun, especially for a newb like me. The park has a ton of camping sites including group camp sites that can hold 5-6 families easy. The normal sites can hold 2 families no problem as well. All sites are out of site for each other so it is the best car camping we've ever had.
only legal place in maryland that is public is Greenridge, out near Cumberland, MD.
and i dunno if greenridge would be the best thing for a jam because of all the ATV's running around tearing that place up.
Even going south and using GWNF would be iffy because of how vast and also how used that place is to other four wheelers.
That's one of the reasons the jeep jam works well, they use Oakridge which is a private piece of land that only open's up a few times a year.

On a seperate note... Oak Ridge Esates will open at any time during the year (outside of certain hunting seasons) but you have to pay for land use and hire trail guides that are associated with Oak Ridge Estates. The land use fee (per vehicle) was actually quite cheap when we looked at having the 2009 Topless for Tata's event there.

I have posted before about the amount of ATV's at Green Ridge. They think they own the place. Remember, there is strength in numbers... If we get enough interest and the word gets put out, maybe they would be hesitant to come around that weekend. I am sure if something gets planned, well in advance, that signs could be posted up at different locations around the trail.
I am in Cumberland and would have no problems putting the word out and posting signs, if needed.
If anyone comes up to Green Ridge, and wants some company, send me an e-mail. If I am able to, I will tag along.

Rausch Creek's parking lot is more of a challenge then Green Ridge. ...
But hey, if you are into driving in the woods on a fire road then Green Ridge is for you
