I am going to be driving from FL to NY to go to my wedding. Looking to explore a bit on the way. Anyone up for Monday 9/21 Tail of the Dragon and/or other miscellaneous? I have only been around Asheville in that area.

 

I live here in Asheville. Unfortunately I am working on the 21st. You could consider Hurricane creek and traveling up to Max Patch. Not very technical, but definitely off road and beautiful scenery- especially if you go up to Max Patch park and hike a short hike to the top of the bald. There is a thread on Hurricane creek you can search for on the forum. Have fun and congrats. I think you said you were headed to your wedding, right?

Tail of the Dragon is a nice drive but be on the lookout for motorcycles....they are EVERYWHERE

If you are going to be in that area you may want to check out Cades Cove. There are some really nice mountain roads to explore in the area. Parson's Branch Rd comes to mind and actually dumps out on Hwy 129 (Tail of the Dragon).

 

The Cherohala Skyway is one road I always hit when I'm in the area. Has some excellent mountain views. The Dragon has the name, but there's much better roads in the area.
