Any fellow Canadians order from Quadratec?
I ordered my black lug nuts from a seller on ebay, which ended up coming directly from Quadratec, for $22. They were shipped through UPS. Brokerage fees were added and I had to pay another $14 COD. !!!$14 on a $22 dollar purchase!!!! WTH!
I have recently ordered my wheels directly from Quadratec, and asked if there would be any brokerage fees and they said "no"....but how do I really know???
I would hate to see how much it would be on a $740 purchase!
So....I'm curious to know if anyone has had this extra "bullshit" charge sprung on them when the parts at sitting at your door step.
Thanks!

I've never bought thru Quadratec....
had 'surprise' extra charges from other U.S companies.
The only place I've been quoted one price and paid their quoted price was from Discount Tire!!! They're great!!!! Their quote included ALL taxes, duty etc. The price they quote you is what you pay!!! Also super fast ordered Wednesday and order at my door step in Ontario early Friday... They also sell rims along with tires.

I ordered a set of skid plates and an CAI from Quadratec. UPS showed up at the door and wanted an additional $160 as their "brokerage fee". This is a UPS thing. In some cases FedEx will do similar but, not to the the same extent.
The fee owed is based on the cost valued by the shipper. In the past I faithfully ordered parts from a different website for my vette. They too use UPS however do not place full retail value on the package. UPS would drop off +$1500 worth of parts and tell me to have a nice day. In this case, the shipper would value each parcel under $20. I believe they understood there was a market in Canada they were interesed in servicing it to the point they would take a hit on the odd lost parcel, vs worring about covering their butt and not making themselves as competitive in the Canadian Market.
Quadratec's policy is to only use UPS when shipping to Canada (no exceptions), as well declaring the full retail value of the product to UPS. If you go to the UPS site, they are happy to tell you how bad they will rape you. It's a big upset when your not expecting it... as you believed you have aready paid Quadratec for shipping and maybe just maybe assuming your "shipping fees" truely covered the "shipping fees" I'll tell you first hand, they make no effort to tell Canadians they're going to be hit by an additional "at you door" shipping fee. The first time it happens, you feel cheated, used, but more so, angry!!
I am not writing this with the intent to bad mouth Quadratec has a company. They have a great website, lots of selection, good pricing (with in the USA) and pretty good customer service. My observation/preception, they have not yet taken the steps necessary to truely be cometitive in the Canadian market. It's a shame that this one little speed bump is likely costing them some serious revenue. From everyone I know buying parts for their Jeep, this is the one road block that has stopped most of them from using Quadratec as their main parts source.
As for me, I wouldn't order anything more than a T-shirt from Quadratec. While the price looks good, it's not the actual price. I have bought parts for the jeep from a few other places sence and made sure not to use UPS (or have them declare the total value under $20). the US Postal Service would be my prefered way to ship across the boarder.
At the end of the day your best bet in Canada is to get some competitive pricing in the states, understand the true cost to your door than call your nearest National 4WD and negotiate a price. I have always saved money or at least broke even on pricing. The best part is never being supprised on the final "true" price. You may even get "to your door" shipping included.
My only comment on National is to know the part number of the product you are calling about. With the number(s) in hand they are pretty good (in my neck of the woods) to get you the patrts and pricing you need.
My experience has been, the "best" price is never the "real" price.

Yeah I've had about 10 deliveries. Sometimes they charge COD and other times they only charge AT the time of the online purchase. They are always very fast, but I think it's a UPS issue and not Quadratec's. They are certainly better than 4WD.com.

In fairness, I can understand your upset Gunn but Quadratec is only doing what is required of them. If there were to under value the goods and get caught they could be facing serious charges.
UPS sucks. Anyone who has ordered from the states will learn this sooner or later.

Have you tried to go through this forum (quadratech Joe) to see if he can help?
I know in the states they have knocked off the shipping charges and sometimes give an additional discount for forum members.

thanks everyone!
I'm not blaming Quadratec for the brokerage fees. I know its a UPS thing.
I just got my own U.S. mailbox, so i'm sure it will work out just fine.
How do I find Joe from Quadratec on here?
