Sahara Auto CRD, after 4500km I am averaging 10/12 l/100km.
This includes at least 30% of my kms in 4WD/Low gear. I don't do much city, in that case I am closer to 12/12.5 l/100km. I usually measure between full tanks.

You ever manage to get the indicator to show less than 9.9 l/100km?

Yes, this is possible during on-road driving. I am not sure what the impact the auto box would have as vehicles with auto shifters are usually more thirsty than vehicles with manual gearboxes.

My CRD auto has 55,000Kms on it now and on a recent drive from Zurich to Geneva I got my best ever economy so far, 8.5L/100Km. My engine is stock but has the latest design EGR valve. I only use Shell VPower or BP Ultimate diesel, nothing else. With alpine driving I am getting 10.5L/100Km. I never drive WOT, always let the turbo get on boost and try to keep the revs constant and let the transmission shift when it needs to. My tailpipe is usually a whitish grey colour, but goes darker after particle burn off.

8.5 is really excellent. The best i could get so far was 9.5 L/100 Km. I also prefer to use Shell VPower or BP Ultimate, but friend who owns a Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 diesel reckons that the lower sulphur content is actually bad for your turbo. He recommends that you add 200 ml 2-stroke oil when you fill your tank before going on a long trip.

Have you heard of anyone adding 2-stroke oil?

15 L/100km...it isn't normal...the fuel consumption (city drive) must be 12-13 L Diesel.

My JK with 1,5inch suspension and 285/70 x 17 MT tires consumes max. 13 L in the city!

My advice is: Go to your Jeep Dealer and ask for a update for your electronic engine control.

With best regards from Germany

Default Fuel additives ?

Does anyone use any additives to the diesel to stop any build up.
Does it work ?
Hand book recommends using fuel with cleaning agents, but no additives to the oil.
So would adding something like RedX be OK ?

I personally don't add any additives but when it goes in for a service they always put in "fuel treatment" on the list. I've never asked what they use but I think it would be alright with a good branded one. I don't have any knowledge of what it does so haven't done it myself before.

I have a 2.8 RUBICON 2dr Manual

Mix of city and HW with Cruise Control 9,5 to 10L per 100kms

Without Cruise Control 10,5 till 11 ,....12,...13 depending on my hurry.

I never exced 13,5L /100km
