If so, are you running them on the stock allow rims?
Secondly, any power problems with this size tyre? I've noticed some of the 3.8 (petrols) complaining about losing 6th gear on the highway, which would be a serious no, no for me.
Am just trying to decide on whether to fit a 285/75/16 or a 265/75/16. I spend 95% of the time on the road as this is my daily driver so I need to get this one right. Would love the bigger look but still need to make sure she powers OK.
Thanks in advance for any help.
PS. Anyone know if the stock alloys on the Sahara Sport (07) are 16x7.5 or 16x7? The dealer said the former but I'm not entirely convinced.

Being an 07 diesel then you should have 4.10's and quite a few are running 35's and I think it does alright with power. I think getting a chip for the computer would help. Check out the aussie jeep forum as they have a lot more folk with diesels that are modified.

Hi,
I have an '07 Unlimited CRD auto and I run 255/85-16 bfg's on some Compomotive 7x16's as my everyday tyre. These measure 33" diameter. There is no noticable difference driving with these compared to the stock size except for losing maybe 1mpg, but then they are mt's.
I also have some 35/12.50-18 Toyo mt's mounted on the original wheels which I use for fun. Again it drives great on these, sometimes I feel they actually suit the engine/box better as it makes use of the torque rather than just revving out all the time as it did on the stock tyres!
I have an AEV procal to correct the speedo and gearchanges for each size and this helps.
285/75-16's would look great under a UK JK - just do it!

Thanks again for the input guys. I have finally decided on the BFG MT 255/85/16s as most people running the 285/75s reported them sticking out about an inch from the fenders. Obviously, you can get lucky but one of the guys on a UK forum just got 3 points on his license and a £250 fine for that and I can't afford another 3 points, so am playing it safe. Also, we're expecting some snow this Winter and the 255 width should perform better on snow than a 285.
The 255s should be on in a couple of hours or so, so will try to post a couple of pics and report on the handling.
