Default Column Width Changes??

This isn't a big deal, but did something change in the way the columns are formatted? I always look at the "new post" link and all the the thread titles are scrunched up on 3 lines even though my browser window is a normal width -

However, here on the Forum Support subthread things look normal -

Same browser window.

That's weird, my new posts show up normal. That may be a local issue for you. I wonder how everyone else is seeing it

Maybe something with that advertisement in the first screenshot. Try running your ad blocker.

Actually, it's not a difference in subforums but a difference in templates. The forumdisplay (such as you viewing the index listing of the Forum Support) and the search display (you viewing the search results) are different templates. Notice that in the search display you've got the added column that lists each forum for each post location, which is not part of the forumdisplay, and that takes up a decent amount of space. That is not new as it was always there.

A few things I noted is your statusicons in your search display appear to be the same size as the ones in your forumdisplay. They should be slightly smaller in the search display. It could be a browser cache issue. That alone won't make the difference but it is odd and not correct. Another is that you don't show the right rail ad in your forumdisplay, which would also take up some space. Are you using 3rd party extensions?

That said, I'm not aware of any recent change but that doesn't mean there wasn't any as I don't get to know everything. Also, my Chrome and Firefox show similar to your results (except the statusicon size difference I mentioned) where the title thread column in the search are a bit more narrow. I have verified this is typical across the network. Depending on the title length of a post, it could wrap over to more than one line. Aside from not being aware of a change, I don't recall it being different? Again, the forum name column in the search display takes up space and that was always there.

Even more strange.....i just tested on IE as well and it's the exact same result as with Chrome. Curious to see if it is that same when I get home vs. work.

Thanks Jason. Those were just partial screenshots in my OP so that's why you don't see the ad rail in one of them. I do agree the extra column in the search results eats up some space, it just seems that the "last post" field is much wider than usualy and that is what is eating up space from the "thread" field. In the big scheme of things, not that big of a deal, I just noticed a lot of the thread titles seemed harder to read than normal and then realized it was due to them being much more condensed than normal. oh well. I can promise I haven't gone just bonkers today ........or maybe I have?? Someone must be playing with my life simulation today!
