Doesn't the owner of this site get paid from forum sponsors as well or companies that want to advertise on here? Any companies that don't pay to sponsor are not allowed to be spoke of? Just curios because it doesn't seem to be a small mom and pop shop making a few bucks off ads being clicked of thsts the case

An earlier post suggests that he sold it a while back.

I'd say 90% of the ads you see on the web are all based on what *you* have been looking at or searching for or posting about.

Ads (like google adwords) are targeted at what you've been looking at, specifically. Forums that use stereotypical software (like this one, vbulletin) are usually hooked right up to things like google adwords.

So, just as spoons don't make people fat, the ads you're seeing are not cherry picked by the site owners - they're actually picked by what you're doing on the web.

Quick tip - if you're using google's chrome browser (you should be if you're not), you can use the AdBlock Plus extension to not ever have to deal with ads again (on really any site). I think they have a plugin for firefox as well.
