Well one weekend years ago I was down at the Hot Springs, and as you know they are 'clothing optional'. That particular weekend the Copper State Naturists were there, about 50 or 60 people running around naked.

LO & Behold!! a Scout Group from a Mormon Church showed up to go camping. While the boys were getting an eyeful and 'demerit badges' one of the Scoutmasters drove out (3 hours round trip) to get a Sheriff. But when that guy returned he was recognized by some of the Naturists as having been there many times before. The Sheriff read this Scoutmaster the riot act for knowingly bringing boys down to a know nudist area. The Naturists were requested to wear clothes in the campground.

But what a FUNNY weekend. They ended up pulling camp at5am Sunday and leaving.

Lets keep this alive, and do it.

BTW: I am rebuilding the website verdehotsprings.org - so check with that later in the month.
Great story, I'm suprised they didn't leave immediately. Guess the Scouts learned about human anatomy more so than camping skills that weekend.

There is ONE hitch in all this.

Thats the level of the Verde River in Feb. Normally is not snow melting time yet, and you can cross.... HOWEVER,

If we get massive rain/snow up north in Jan & Feb, we'll have to look at river levels at that time. We cant cross if over 350cfm is flowing.

Which section of th eVerde River should we watch?

at Camp Verde
into Horseshoe (at Tangle)
below Horseshoe (Lake release)
below Bartlett

Also, how deep are we talking? Would a snorkel be reccomended, not necesary mind, but do you reccomend it? Might be a good way to convince the wife to let me get one.

Watch Camp Verde and Tangle Creek. We have to cross both.

But beware, especially in Monsoons that Tangle Creek can come up FAST. Sit down and wait an hour and it will go down.

But snow run off is more solid. Tell ya what = I will go down to Verde Hot Springs this week and take pics of the level, cross it, and tell ya what numbers we need to watch.

This is Forest Highway 16 if you want to google map it.

Dave

--- also bought a real cheap pop top camper that I will be bringing to some runs next spring. Sorta setting it up for sleep/ and power tools. Generator and air tools will be available in the field..

Good question. I want to go along on this weekend trip and have to work at least half a day on Friday before I can start driving out. It about a 600 mile ride just to get out there.
