I am tagging along with this as we are planning a very similar trip the week earlier end of July but more scenic and mild trails as we have a 2 1/2 month old baby. We are driving from St. Louis.

not to change the subject but do you own Gateway Aquatics? Looks like a nice store.

What all are you guys planning on doing in CO? I'm still trying to get some more ideas and what not.

Yeah, we are mostly Saltwater and we were originally going the same week as you but have moved it up a week. If another couple goes with us that was supposed to then we would be going the first week in Aug.

Yeah thats similar to what we are planning on. Heading to Canon City to do a day float trip then heading to Ouray, then to Moab and not sure after that.
Anything specific you are doing or going to see in Durango?

I found this site that has a lot of the trails in the Ouray area.

I will check that out. I havent been to these place ever before so more just exploring and see whats around. We just had a baby so that will limit things we can do especially since I would love to go rafting but not with my 2 month old baby boy! I still have to receive and install my roof rack and have my axles regeared 5.13's for the trip.

That link looks good. I would imagine the level 1 and 2 trails should be fairly easy and safe. Would love to really put lockers and winch to the test on a level4/5 but I dont think the wife will go for it with the baby.

If you haven't already got them then buy Charles Wells guide books on Moab & CO. ( "Funtreks (dot) com (Get the 2nd editions, and buy from his website so you can get the spiral bound ones.)

They've been invaluable for our solo trips to CO & Moab.

Speaking of which. . . we're leaving KC on the Aug 7th and will be in Moab for the 8th & 9th then heading to CO for a few days.

This will be our first summer trip to Moab. (We normally hit CO in the summer and Moab in the winter.)
