Default Colorado trail recommendations?

Can anyone with Colorado experience give me a few recommendations for trails to hit on a short (one or two day) shakedown run next month? My best mate wants to do Red Cone, but it looks to be more a test of my nerve than it does a test of my machine.

I like the idea of Holy Cross City, but I'm told that trail is a real MF'er.

So, perhaps something between the two?

Thanks!

No specific advice because you didn't provide much information or an area you were interested in. I think that these are the best resources for Colorado.

Trail damage for reviews, pictures, and GPS maps,

http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php

and, of course the Funtreks books by Charles Wells.

North of I-70,

South of I-70,

Good luck!

Eww, sorry. I'll go just about anywhere within, say, an hour west of Denver. I'd like to keep my trip out and back to a reasonable distance. Up near Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park (Estes area) would be great. (I'm all checked out on Trail Damage, thank you.)

If you're going to be in Estes Park (RMNP), check these out,
  • Pole Hill Road (5 mins from Estes -- I've run this while my wife shopped in town)
  • Ironclads / Plane Crash
  • Middle St Vrain / Coney Flats
  • LeftHand Canyon

Check traildamage or the books above for difficulty listings, trail descriptions, etc.

Good luck.

Looking these over via Trail Damage right now. Thank you for the input, this is a great jumping off point for my planning.

Just did Middle St. Vrain/Coney Flats a couple of weeks ago. Awesome trails. Water crossing kind of high on top but passable.
