Default Elephant Hills

Can it be done in a stock 4dr. JK?

Also saw something about a part of the trail where you have to back down?

Would you guys say this trail is doable for someone with limited offroad experience? Really want to see the sights but I am coming from Washington so its a long way home if something happens.

Thanks!

Elephant hill in Canyonlands is totally passable with a stock rig. I did it when mine was stock no problems at all. The park service up there runs it all the time with a stock unlimited just so you know.

Here are some pics when I went to Canyonlands when my rig was stock (Different wheels but still all stock)

I did it in a stock 87' Isuzu Trooper about 10 years ago. I'm sure it's changed since then though.

I did this trail last Sept. I think you will be fine. the backing down part is not a big deal . It is very scenic and is easy to follow. It looks intimidating at times but they keep it maintained so there are no big surprises. Gas was expensive in the park. fill up in Moab or there is a little town 15 miles south of the entrance to the park. Have fun and good luck.

Monticello is the town. I'd stick with Moab if you can make the mileage. The gas is a bit more in Monticello than Moab, but like Capt. said, the price of gas in the park is ridiculous.
