I am hopefully getting my JK Unlimited in Oct or Nov if all goes well. My question is;

Why did you go with 35's over 37's? or 37's over 35's?

I know this question has been about beat to death but I wanted to know if it would benifit me to go up to 37's if most of my wheeling will be here in Colorfull Colorado.

Thanks

With 35s you can do most the trails 37s about all the trails

It depends on your wheeling style and how deep your pocket is!

a Rubi from the factory should be able to do most!

but.. a JK should come from the factory with the 35s

so it really depends on what you want todo with it and how much you want to spend

I would go further and say with one locker and 33"s you can do the majority of trails in Colorado. I do have a two door though. It is a stock X with takeoff Rubicon tires on it. I've put it on trails up to a 5 rating by Traildamage so far. She is a little beat up on the bottom now! Depending on the trail I could probably get her up at least a 6 depending on why it has that rating.

Once I get a lift and a locker and at least 33"s I'll be pushing her up at least 8 rated trails. I don't think I'll do anything harder since she is my daily driver and has to get me to work 5 days a week plus getting me up the trails on the weekends.

Yeah, you can do a lot of the trails here in a stock Rubicon. I wouldn't try the hardcore ones in mine, because its a its a stock 4 door, its my DD, and its not paid for, but its really impressed me so far. A two door would be easier to maneuver on some of the tight trails I've been on, but it hasn't been an issue at all. But, once again I haven't done anything hardcore yet. Obviously the 2 doors have a better break over angle too...

Plans have changed, but I was supposed to do Red Cone this weekend and I feel confident that it wouldn't have had any issues.

Thanks for all the fast responses! I am definatley going to put at least 35's on my rig. It will be my daily driver but gas milage doesn't really bother me. I have been doing research and have noticed 37's are a lot more expensive and I don't know if the extra inch of tire would be that big of a benifit.

Shame you can't do it. I did it with my stock X running SRAs. Had a blast.

I did a 2" lift and 33". Just fine for what I want to do. Handles great on the road. Still good gas milage etc. Above 33" I think you are looking at other mods to the suspension etc. I am happy with what I have done.

Like what Lo2aY said, depends on how deep your pockets are and what type of wheeling you are planning on doing. I did a lot of trails with my stock Rubicon setup and was very happy with it although I had some dragging/scrapping so I decided to do a budget lift(Teraflex 2.5") and 35's. I have been really happy with what I am running now and clear more than I did before which makes me have more peace of mind. As far as gas mileage with the larger tires and lift I haven't really noticed a dramatic decrease really, but I am also running a stock 4.10 gears and if your not I don't know if it would really affect power output/gas mileage.

And as White Widow said 35's most trails 37's all trails I would also agree but I can tell you there are some trails I look at and won't even think about doing just because of the damage possibilities. Like this one I would like to see some rigs on this but would never think about attempting it in my JK Independence Trail

As I am sure many would say before you start modding maybe get out there and experience some trails see if you need more lift to do some of the more difficult trails. I know when I first started I was not even thinking about attempting what I am doing now (its so addictive, now I look for the harder lines to take, of course within reason as it is my DD). Remember its not always how much you lift and how big your tires that make it fun or for that matter a better rig, but if you are wanting to lift right off the bat don't think it will make you a better wheeler as you can see from many of the Youtube videos that show rigs rolling or being destroyed Rolled TJ and some evidence of a some stock footageStock JK X does Great and some of my video posts RckyMtnGoat Vids
