Default Santa Fe, Here we come

We are heading to Santa Fe for a few days of R&R and was hoping someone from that area might have trail suggestions.

Is there a trail with a lake near by?

Any help would be fantastic!

Frankenstunk is right about Goose lake. I use to live in Albuquerque and a fall trip to Red River was always a favorite. In fact I can still remember a trail ride into Goose lake was my first Jeep experience. I was probably about 8 or 9 years old and dad rented a Jeep YJ I think and we did this fun little trail at an incline up to the lake. Hope you have a great time, be safe

Here is a link to NM trails. Looks like greenie peak is another one on the list. I've also driven up to Cabrasto Lake near Quest NM. Easy trail with a nice lake and hike at the end. Questa is couple of hours from santa Fe and so is Red River.

There is also Middle Fork Lake trail, plenty of switch backs in a 3 mile section. There is Red River Pass a real easy trail. 4th of July Canyon is a rough one i hear, didnt have enought time to do that one when I was up there 2 cpl of weekends ago. Goose Lake is a good trail, nice scenery, saw some deer on the mountains above the lake. I live in santa Fe, there are a few trails around here.

Try and pick up a map if you can.

Enjoy your Ride.

If you want a nice trail ride, Goose Lake Trail. If you want a short but steep trail with plenty of switch backs, Middle Fork Lake. Rough, 4th of July Canyon.
