Well I isolated the noise today....its metal on metal and its coming from the front diff
So now I need to figure out exactly what's the cause...sounds rotational, and speeds up as I do, etc...

Does anyone have an opinion on the Warn VR10000 entry level winch? Need some advice on a selection which used as an emergency more than a necessity.

Just remember, u get what u pay for. I very rarely use my winch, it's actually James's winch, since he's the only one who's ever needed it. You want it to be dependable and those entry level Warns and XRC aren't that great. Look around on EBay, you'll be shocked at what you find. I paid $500 for my Mile Marker V10, brand new in the box, and they retail for a 1K. It was probably stolen goods, but who cares
