Default What is geacaching and hows it done??

What is it, and how do you get involved in it? Im researching GPS units and i notice alot of them say they are able to do this. Is their some web site to join to get started? Were do you get the coordinates to find stuff? Thanks for any info you guys shoot my way!

The site is w w w .geocaching.com . I like to describe it a high tech hide and seek. People hide a container and then post the gps coordinates on the site, then you go look for them and log your results. You used to have to print off details to take with you, but the newer units you can download this information into them, and some you can create the log then just upload when you get home. I have had fun and so have my kids when they have gone with me.

Hey, thanks for the info. Ive just finished joining that web site. Should be getting my GPS soon then the fun will start. The kids will love doing this, somthing for them to do on those long jeep rides.

Definately a lot of fun. It can be very challenging at times as people often get very creative with hiding the cache. The great thing is that you can do it anywhere. Do a little research before a road trip and download caches along a route. Enjoy!

If you happen to have an iphone, the geocaching app is awesome. You can just find caches around you wherever you are. I was amazed at how many there are in most places I go everyday. It is a blast, glad you found it! Now get out there and find one!

I don't have an iphone but do have an ANdroid phone. the app is called C:Geo it works GREAT!

Also there is a cool video on the geocaching site that explains it.
