what to look for in a GPS
im thinking about buying one. i want it to have a decent size screen, be good for city and off-road. now ive been reading about all these different models but what should i be looking for when i go check them out. i have never owned one so i dont know much. whats the deal with downloadable maps and the memory in it. thanks for any help.

Both Garmin zūmo® 660 & zūmo® 550 would be a great choice. They are both touch screens.
Myself and few friends have the Marin grade GPSMAP® 378 or the GPSMAP® 478. These units are not touch screens and more of the old fashion scroll style selector.
Dont buy a TomTom - it will get you lost in the US. Garmin is better but get one that loads quickly and bigger screen is better. Touchscreen is the best. Just buy a netbook computer and hook up a receiver.
Well, IMO. You should always get one that is weather resistance/waterproof since its going to be in a Jeep. However that really narrow you down to very few choices.
