You could start with a 2.5 budget boost if you don't want to spend a lot. my rough country lift was only $130. You could stick a .5" spacer to get 3" out of it. The teraflex kit is more complete. It comes with a track bar bracket, bumpstops, and rear brake line relocation bracket. It's also $300+. I've heard of people not liking the bumpstops. The brake line bracket is VERY easily fabricated ($1 at the hardware store). And I didn't want to get the trackbar bracket because it just doesn't seem safe to me. I want to get an adjustable track bar. I have none of these and it's my daily driver and I wheeled just fine at Badlands. I will add to it as I can afford it.

Ditto on lift first.
I went with Daystar pucks, then upgraded to an RC coil lift w/shock last year.

Unless you like ugly rubbing, bigger tires have to come after a lift.

Yeah, everyone is right on the money. I think lift is the first place to start. Once that goes on, think about a manageable wheel and tire combo. All in good time, of course.

I put the teraflex 2.5 BB with the shock extensions. then went with the bfg M/T rubi tires. then cut the fenders and installed the rubi rock rails. then the 35s then I stubbied the bumper and trimmed the body pinch seam.

Just got back to Lafayette tonight and saw this. I'm not sure about my weekend schedule yet but I would definitely be up for it!

pics of new mods pretty soon???

Also, lift something you all think is manageable for me to tackle on my own. I worked on cars for 5 years, but mostly interior work (radios, tv's, electrical, cruise controls, etc...). I am mechanically inclined, but just haven't done any suspension work before.

Opinions?

Definitely do it yourself. There are even write-ups on specific kits on this site to guide you through it.

Hey, phouck, do you ride a mountain bike?
Some "old men" buddies and I ride out by the tennis complex.
There are usually students riding there, but we old guys like to stay in shape, too.
