Minnesota's ramble on and on thread.
Personally, I think you're on the verge of too much gear for a 34" tire with 5.13. A good guy to contact would be Mudbob. He has bigger tires but he's running 5.13's and should give you an idea of what it would be like.
In my opion the tough part is do you ever plan on going to a bigger tire? If you do, then do the 5.13's and deal with slightly higher RPMs for a year or two until the 34's wear out and then move up in tire size.

He's a question to throw at you. You say highway driving majority of the time is that mostly freeway at speeds higher than 65.
When you do offroad is it backroads and dirt and mud.
Why I ask this is because if your not a guy that hauls ass on freeway you should be fine not over revving. You don't have a 4:1 transfer-case so the benefit of the low gear will help you if your going into low range and also the loss of power when you put it in 4 high through the mud and such. I'd still say 5.13 if your a 65 mph kinda guy on the freeway.
Now if you go 70-75 you'd be revving pretty well with 34's and 5.13's. If you have gear and or pull a trailer 5.13's. A girlfriend that packs tons of stuff 5.38's. Lol anyways you get what I mean. So I think you borderline for the 4.88 /5.13's

What usually causes parts to break is when a tire that is spinning (with no traction) suddenly gets traction, whether it be when the front of a rig is bouncing going up a hill or is spinning on a rock and suddenly catches. If you leave the front end open then you lessen the chances of things breaking. If most of your miles are on the highway then you won't have to worry much about spinning tires.
I go back and forth. The 5.13's would be nice when I tow the camper but that is only about 2 or 3 times a summer and is only up to Gilbert (60 miles of mostly flat ground). When I went to 4.56's in my XJ I had to upgrade the brakes because being locked front and rear when I was in 4 low I could barely stop the rig. I know that the brakes on the JK are considerably better but I have still seen guys overdrive their brakes when crawling in low range.
I know at some point this summer I am going to have to make a choice because I am regearing this summer at some point. Right after I get a spare tire carrier and a better job.

Well I actually have already ordered the 5.13s and they arrived today. It was once I called Sid that he got me re-thinking my choice. Now I'm feeling like the 5.13 is the right choice because it allows for future upgrades and I do plan to tow a boat several times a year.
Thanks for the help guys

Also, I'm in for the nest meet, wherever of whenever!
