Doug, Windrock is near Knoxville, TN -- about 20 miles west. It is one of the top rated places to wheel in the South.

Highrlr mentioned there could already be a few convoying with him, so getting a group together to make that haul would be impressive.

I'd like some more info on when you are going and whether or not it would be a fun thing for someone with very little experience to do

Very tempting..... I'll be watching for dates and more information! I'd love to hit this trip, not sure I'd have the time off to swing it in 2010. Definately a trip I will eventually make!

You won't regret it. We did Easter Jeep Safari this year, and I'm going back next year and leave the Jeep for a few months, flying in and out to see more!

Here is some info I put together on Moab:

sounds like lot of you guys are interested. I think the easter jeep safari will be the time unless there are other times where guides are available. I think first timers at moab with out a guide would not be near as much fun. so as the info comes to me I will post it . High roller went last year and he has a lot of info. I will be talking to him soon to see what we can setup. and we can start the planning process.

I went in April about 2 weeks after the jeep safari and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

I would not want to go during the safari due to the crowds.

My rubi is a 2 door totally stock and I had no problems, but then i did not try prichart or those types of trails.

Get Wells book to start to review your plans.

See my signature and you will get my opinion.

I asked highrlr this question because I thought the same thing. He said he went out with a small group of 3 Jeeps and didn't run into much, if any others on the trails. He also mentioned that at the Jeep Safari you pay per trail ride.

[ He also mentioned that at the Jeep Safari you pay per trail ride.]

you have to pay per trail? im thinking that could get expensive. Buster sent me a text and told me that his group northern illinois extreme jeepers is going out just before the jeep safari. he said it is way cheaper than the safari.

Where is the best place to get trail info? maps, trail ratings, area info, etc...
And what kind of $$ and extra stuff do you need to take on a run like this? (parts)
I have'nt ever seriously considered going to Moab, and don't know anyone who has gone, (except highrlr), so really don't know what to do, where to go, or how it all works....
Just looking at pics on line, it looks like a hell of a cool place to go, not real keen on some of the cliff edge trails ( I don't do well with heights! ) but would be a real fun trip with a bunch of good folks to go with...

Still not sure I will be able to do a run to Moab this next spring, (time and $$$) but am going to start planning just in case it works out...
