A high dollar custom wont outlast or outshoot any of the mediocre models on the poll. I guarantee the gun is capable of outshooting the user, and if you purchase a reputable brand, service life will be on par with anything else.

I have a Rock Island Armory fullsize 1911 tactical in .45acp. It is a great gun to shoot, very accurate, very reliable and doesn't cost a fortune.

For those who love Kimber, how recently did you buy your guns? Ever since they started mass producing, they no longer match their parts from start to finish. They grab a slide from a bin, grab a frame from a bin, then throw some mass produced parts into it. They aren't what they used to be. But I agree that at one time (when they were still a small custom shop) they were fantastic.

Colt, Springfield, and actual custom shops still make the each slide for a specific frame, and make sure that they are married throughout the build process. Just food for thought. But again, I believe that each gun is good for what you need it for. Competition shooting is different that combat shooting, which is different from home protection, which is different from a range plinker. Agree?

Wilson Combat, since money isn't supposed to be an object. Value, I'd say Springfield.

I've shot:

Wilson Combat
Springfield Lightweight Operator
Colt
Kimber
Sig

Of the above, the Wilson Combat had the best feel for balance, trigger pull (oh, how I love the trigger!!!), and overall feel.

I can't speak for accuracy as I shot all 5 about the same. Also, can't speak to the others as I've never shot them.

I have a Kimber custom II (I know mass produced, non matching parts la la la ) I have hammered this gun. It is as accurate as the day I got it and still as smooth as butter and has never failed to throw lead down range. I tear it down after every 100 rounds (give or take) and clean it oil it then hammer it some more. I have shot several brands of 1911 but would like to get a Sig at some point.

I shopped around for awhile.... I wanted an EDC that worked well iwb, was light, had a shorter slide but full length grip. I absolutely love my TALO Wiley Clapp Colt Commander.
