Best 1911?
I have 3 Kimbers and 2 Springfields... the only issue I have had between the 5 guns were light primer strikes in my Springfield EMP (since fixed by Springfield at no charge). I know.... the EMP is not technically a standard 1911 as the parts are not interchangeable, but none the less I would not hesitate to trust my life to any of them.
In the Military, I, ate, slept & went into battle with a Colt 45 for a very long time and have had a 1911 love affair ever since!
I have 3 Kimbers and one Colt. The Colt is actually a Mustang .380 and fairly new to my arsenal. My oldest Kimber is a Compact Stainless , purchased about 20 years ago and has close to 10,000 flawless rounds through it. It has won me a few (informal)shooting matches to boot. My other two Kimbers are a Gold Match II in Blue and a Stainless Raptor II. All shoot perfect and all are very accurate and reliable, but the Gold Match is by far the most accurate. I do shoot them a lot, Of course I would like to get a Nighthawk or Les Baer, but just cannot see that they are 2-3 times better than a Kimber!
I also had and Ultra CDP, it is a very nice size gun, but the moment you relax the grip at all, it will malfunction. To shoot that gun reliably, training is a must!
100 years plus...... what a fantastic journey for one of John Browning's best!
