I live in an area that only allows 'yote hunting with smaller then .23 cal rounds outside of deer, moose, and bear season. I dont need the range of a 22-250 here as my farthest shot would be 300 yards max. A 22-250 doesnt make up for the cost of round difference until 350+ yards.
Im pretty set on the Savage Model 10 predator hunter. I dont have 1500$ to set up a Tika T3 Lite the way I want, and I love the AccuTrigger on the Savage. It also comes with a useable scope until I can throw some cash on a good lit reticle scope.
What can you guys see in the 800-900$ range other then the Savage? Ive played with all the entry level eco guns under 500$ and they all felt choppy and were not something I would hunt with.

Before I read farther than the title, I was thinking Savage with accutrigger, hands down.
For something other than the savage, I would point you toward the CZ-USA line.
Lovely rifles that are nicer than they should be for the money.

I guess this would fall in the category of an "eco" rifle, but I can shoot 1MOA @ 100 yards and the optic that came with it keeps zero. This is obviously the synthetic OEM stock but you can get a free float wood stock to pretty it up. The trigger is adjustable but a bit complicated.
Remington 700 in .223.

The savage will be hard to beat for an out of the box shooter. I have a Remington 220 swift that shoots great but is very picky about what you feed it. I bought my Dad a Savage 22-250 that shoots every bit as good with less expensive glass and any ammo you throw in it.

Wow I just took a wall through the cz site (what a mess that thing is) and fell in love with the full length forestock on the 527 fs. I also use iron sights for 80% of all my shooting so I think this might be a great gun. Gotta call around and see if anyone has one in stock.
