Definitely, AR 15, if you can find one right now.
I have an early A2, real early, the only A2 part on it is the 1 in 7 barrel, other then that it is still an A1 slab side, and in all the years I had it, it has never missed a beat. And the S&W M&P 15 is a sweet M4gery.

so what caliber should I get the AR-15? I see they have them in 9mm and 223. Bull barrel?

Oh, get a .223 if your going to get one or consider an AR-10 .308.

I must consider something that shoots cheap ammo but gets the most bang for the buck.

Nice, my first duy weapon was a 23, I now carry the 21, It seems to fit my hand better. Hell I even qualify on it once in awhile

I guess what I'm asking is....which of them is the cheaper ammo, besides the .9mm. The .9mm is a little weak for my taste.
